The Association for Computers & Taxation (ACT) is a nonprofit, national organization designed to assist its members in identifying and solving the problems involved in automating the corporate tax function. It is a forum for sharing information about tax systems within the corporate tax environment. We provide information on the entire automated tax environment. We accomplish this by publishing newsletters, sponsoring conferences throughout the year, and providing a forum for our members to meet fellow corporate tax professionals to exchange information on automation needs. Our membership includes users of all commercially available tax software packages as well as users of home-grown tax software.
It is your job to minimize the corporation's tax burden and to assure timely filing in a continually evolving environment. Changing International, Federal, State, and local jurisdictional tax laws and interpretation of new statutes and their impact are making your role as a corporate tax professional increasingly more difficult to perform. An opportunity for at least a partial solution is automated tax systems but the rapid advance of technology can make automation part of the problem rather than part of the solution.
